NBA season standing
The NBA season is now a third of the way over. Teams are now contending for playoff spots. Some teams such as last seasons champions the Boston Celtics have already clinched a spot, other teams include the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Orlando Magic, and the L. A. Lakers. Some teams are struggling just to stay in the playoff race and injuries are not helping them to make it. Everyone is talking now about who will get what awards for the season. The MVP award is very tight between three different players this season that have all done great things for their team. Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat is leading the NBA in points per game with almost thirty. He has been a great leader for his team and now they are looking foward to the playoffs. This is only one season after his team was one of the worst in the league. Another canidate for the MVP is LeBron James. James is aguably the best player in the NBA. He is second in points per game and has led his team to have the best record in the NBA and they won their divison. Last but not least is Kobe Bryant. He has led his team to be the best in the west and is already the reiging MVP. The rookie of the year is also in a close race main players in it are O.J. Mayo and Derrick Rose. Rose has had more of a playmaker year making his teammates better when they are on the floor with them. Mayo has been leading all rookies in scoring not to mention his team. He is looked at as the player to get the ball if they are losing. There are still many awards that are still up for grabs on this season. Some are sixth man of the year, which goes to the best bench player. Most improved player, that award goes to the player who had the most uprise is stats on the season. And the defensive player of the year which goes to the best defender in the NBA. All of these awards are presented at the end of the season.

The dunk contest this year was one to remeber the players made it into quiet the show. defending champion Dwight Howard brought back his "superman" ego by going into a phone booth putting on a cape and dunking onto a twelve foot rim. Nate Robinson came back with an all green uniform and acted as Dwight's "kryptonite" and finished off his second compition win by dunking over the six foot ten Dwight himself. The Rookie Sophmore game ended with the rookies winning led by Kevin Durant and his 46 points. The All-Star game was another show by Shaq he pulled off some moves he would never do in a game. Him and his Western Conference teammates won the game with Shaq and Kobe Bryant sharing the MVP and showing they still had there friendship.
